Q: I'm having trouble with Westlaw/Lexis. Who do I contact?
- Librarians can troubleshoot or connect you with Westlaw or Lexis help desks.
Q: Can I get a Westlaw/Lexis/Bloomberg Law password?
- You will receive instructions for setting up your Westlaw and Lexis accounts in your Legal Research & Writing classes. Stop by the Reference desk or email the librarians at lawlibref@ucdavis.edu to register for a Bloomberg Law account.
Q: Does the law library loan textbooks?
- The law library does not purchase textbooks for loan. Please contact the campus bookstore to order textbooks.
Q: How do I check if my professor has placed items on course reserve?
- Use the catalog search box on the library web page. Click on the "Course Reserves" tab. Search by course number or instructor name. If you need additional help, stop by the Circulation desk in the library lobby.
Q: How do I find out my assigned carrel?
- 1Ls and LLMs are assigned a carrel by the Law Library, two students per carrel. Carrel assignments are usually made within the first two weeks of school. See Carrels and Study Areas for more information.
Q: Where can I study in the library?
- Tables in the main Reading Room on the first floor of the library and in the Darling Lounge on the second floor are unassigned and available for law student study. Carrels in the stacks and in the North and South Reading Rooms are assigned. However, if a carrel assignee is not seated at a carrel, it is available for seating until the assignee returns.
Q: Can I use a Group Study Room?
- Group Study Rooms are available to law students only. For information on how to reserve, see Group Study Rooms.
Q: How do I locate online study aids?
- The Library offers a number of online study aids, including outlines, nutshells, tutorials, audio lectures, and more in-depth materials on law school course topics. See Study Aids and Exam Preparation Materials.
Q: What about checking out books?
- King Hall students may check out books at the Circulation desk. You may search the library catalog on the library web page.
Q: Where can I get coffee?
- King Hall has a kiosk serving Peet's Coffee outside on the North side of the building. For open hours, see King Hall Coffee.
