U.S. Code

  • The United States Code is the general and permanent laws enacted by Congress through laws passed by the Legislature. Laws that are not permanent in nature or only affect specific individuals or small groups, regulations, treaties, case law, state law, and local law do not appear in this Code.

Regulations

Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Annual Edition

  • Official rules and procedures created by executive and administrative agencies to implement the laws passed by Congress.The rulemaking process for regulations is governed by the procedures in the Administrative Procedures Act and supervised by the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA).
  • Proposed regulations and amendments must be published in the Federal Register (official daily publication for rules, proposed rules, and notices of Federal agencies and organizations, as well as executive orders and other presidential documents).

  • Unofficial, editorial compilation of CFR material and Federal Register amendments.
  • Updated daily

CFR Affected List (LSA)

  • Proposed, new, and amended Federal regulations that have been published in the Federal Register since the most recent revision date of a CFR title
