The state attorney general is the chief law enforcement officer for the state. Its office is authorized to issue opinion letters on proposed legislation or in response to questions submitted to the office. These letters are not primary authorities but may be useful for demonstrating legislative intent. They are also used to respond to questions submitted by judges.
