The statutory framework for patent law is codified in Title 35 of the United States Code. There have been several major revisions of the code, notably in 1952 and in 2012.

This statute provided a substantial revision of the patent code. It is notable for codifying non-obviousness and contributory infringement.

The book is written primarily for novice patent attorneys and agents, law students, and those studying for the patent bar exam. Although experience in the drafting of patent applications, and patent claims in particular, is not required, a basic knowledge of U.S. patents and U.S. patent law is assumed.

The publication also offers tactical strategies for infringement suits and checklists of black letter law for claim construction, infringement, validity, doctrine of equivalents, and prosecution history estoppel.

This book is a concise reference that collects caselaw dealing with every aspect of patent claim construction by the Federal Circuit.

This Manual is published to provide U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) patent examiners, inventors, applicants, attorneys, and agents with a reference work on the practices and procedures relative to the prosecution of patent applications and other proceedings before the USPTO. For example, the Manual contains instructions to examiners, and other material in the nature of information and interpretation, and outlines the current procedures which the examiners are required or authorized to follow in appropriate cases in the normal examination of a patent application and during other Office proceedings.

The Official Gazette (OG) is the official journal of the USPTO, published weekly on Tuesday, that includes bibliographic information and a representative drawing for each patent granted or trademark published on that issue date. There is a separate Official Gazette for Patents and Official Gazette for Trademarks, and the most recent 52 issues for each are available online.

This search engine, by Google, provides access to patent filings in the US and other foreign jurisdictions. It may be easier to use and navigate compared to the USPTO search engine.

The Patent Public Search tool is a new web-based patent search application that will replace internal legacy search tools PubEAST and PubWEST and external legacy search tools PatFT and AppFT. Patent Public Search has two user-selectable modern interfaces that provide enhanced access to prior art.
